To further its aims, the Society produces a quarterly newsletter,
'The Patriot', to which contributions are invited, and has also recently re-published a biography of Hampden which was out of print.
Adult education seminars, illustrated lectures and visits to places connected with John Hampden, such as Broughton Castle near Banbury (left), are all part of the Society's programme.
The John Hampden Society has formed close links with a number of other historical associations, such as the English Civil War Society, the Thame Historical Society, the Cromwell Association, the Battlefields Trust and the Hampden (Maine) Historical Society.
The Society's Patron, the Earl of Buckinghamshire, is a direct descendant of John Hampden through his daughter Mary, and many of the Society's members
also claim descent from the Patriot. The President, Dr John Adair, is a well-known military historian who has written the most recent biography of Hampden, as well as a number of other books on the English Civil War.
