The exhumation and reinterring of bodies buried in the graveyard of St Lawrence’s Brentford began on the 28th June. A number of the combatants from both sides were laid to rest in this graveyard. The developers, Ballymore, have indicated that they would work with interested parties to erect a monument commemorating the fallen. The Society has already been in contact with the Battlefields Trust about how this matter can best be progressed. John Hampden and his regiment were present at the battle. The halting of the King’s advance on London is attributed to the actions of Hampden’s regiment in the latter stages of the battle.
